A local student who was reading and writing at third grade level last year is now at grade level in sixth grade after a learning assessment and 18 hours of one-on-one instruction.
Told she would "never do more than work in retail" a young mother of two children is working toward her college degree after struggling through high school. Her learning assessment helped her understand and explain her difficulties to her parents, as well as better advocate and understand her children's school difficulties. Taking a Children's Literature course through Peninsula College, she joyously read books she was unable to read as a child. She shares learning strategies with her co-workers and friends.
